Problème Bôite B2 1922

Bonjour,

As long as the engine is not started - everything seems normal,
the leeway of the clutch pedal, the gear lever, engaging of gears, etc.

But, as soon as the engine is running, even when the car is not in motion,
you cannot engage gears without considerable force and a screeming noise.
( The same when the car is in motion ).

Does anyone have a solution to this problem ??
Thanks in advance !

Hi Stephane,

When you action the clutch pedal, it pushes, (using the clutch release connection), against a shaft which rotates 3 arms. These arms pull the cluth plate, which releases the clutch itself, and so unlinks the motor exit of the gearbox.
If one of these 3 arms is broken, or exited from its housing, you feel the same resistance when you action the pedal, but the clutch plate stays pressed in a part of its circumference.
It could be your problem.
And the only way to control that is to back out the gear box. Doing that, you can lift the shaft off and action each arm.
It is neither complicated or long: all can be done within 2 or 3 hours.

Hi Laurent,

Thanks for the explanation !
Just one further question :
Is this "diagnosis" good even for the fact, that the car starts OK in gear as long as the clutch pedal is kept down.
Everything then seems to be normal ( no tendencies of pulling etc ), and the clutch engages distinctly upon the release of the clutch pedal ( around two thirds up from the floor ).

Thanks !
Kind regards,
Stephane
